Motorbike tour across the Western Alps
On this motorbike tour we have pure action, adventure and nature. A round trip through the Western Alps on breathtaking mountain roads, beautiful passes, gorges and rivers. You will discover unique waterfalls and old forts and enjoy unique views of the Alps. In the saddle of your Enduro you will experience the impressive landscape between rugged rock formations and breathtaking views.
Life in the saddle between Dolce Vita and French home cooking, along the Italian/French border.
The following itinerary of the motorbike tour is subject to change, as roads may be closed, blocked or even impassable for longer periods or at short notice. Due to the constant changes, we endeavour to clarify this as well as possible in advance and to adapt the route to the local conditions.
Itinerary of the motorbike tour across the Western Alps:
Arrival and departure:
Individual arrival and the common meeting point is on the first day of the tour, at a campsite on the border triangle of Switzerland, France and Italy. We will provide you with detailed information shortly before the tour. On the last day of the tour, the Sunday in question, you can travel home individually and at your own pace.
On narrow paths at dizzying heights the Western Alps
These are dream routes that every passionate off-road rider has heard of and would absolutely like to ride: Ligurian border ridge road, Col de Parpaillon, Col Sommelier are only a small selection of well-known names.
On our off-road motorbike tour we explore many other, partly unknown insider tips, which are charming but have it all. Initial asphalt quickly turns into gravel, sand and scree and this variety will put a dusty smile on every participant's lips. We experience and learn something new every day and constantly changing conditions will test mind, body and machine. Technically demanding sections, lonely valleys, endlessly winding passes with fantastic views constantly shake hands. Overnight stays at campsites or in the great outdoors make the heart of every adventurer beat faster.
Sights in the Western Alps
We will all get our money's worth and reach our limits, but at the latest in the evening, when we have dinner together and share what we have experienced, there will be some time to relax.
We do not want to anticipate a more detailed description of this trip with individual daily sections. As we have had to improvise time and again in the past due to roadblocks, landslides and the like, be curious - we are too! Our tour guides always strive to offer you the best possible experience in the Western Alps and therefore explore the area before the start of the tour to discover possible alternative routes and new paths. Few trips are as dynamic from year to year as our Western Alps Tour. There are certainly new things to discover every year and one or two surprises are guaranteed. A real adventure, right on our doorstep - come along!
On the Enduro through the Western Alps
Note on track closures for off-road riding in the Western Alps:
In 2007, the newly elected government on the French side started to close off-road routes such as Col de Sommellier over the weekend in order to curb cross tourism.
Since 2008, more and more off-road routes for 4x4 vehicles and enduros are closed one month before the start of the season and off-road travellers who bypass the closures out of ignorance or knowingly are asked to pay a very heavy fine.
2013: OVERCROSS runs the Western Alps tours only as Explorer Tour in order to react flexibly to closures of off-road passages.
2015: LGKS is opened for a limited number of vehicles per day after reconstruction work with tolls.
2017: Closures for motorbikes and 4x4s in the area of the Assietta ridge runway.
2019: Route approval by the Tourist Office for the tour operator OVERCROSS.
